Despite repeated citizen concerns brought to the current AMMUD Board Directors, the over zealous deed restriction enforcement continues.  Residents continue to receive letters for violations that are questionable at best, or worse, blatantly wrong.  The biggest insult is, they continue to pay Treasure of the Hills for this service.

More and more residents are unhappy with this, yet the current Board refuses to heed the citizens at their peril.  Is this the type of neighborhood we want Anderson Mill to be?

After annexation our properties will be subject to City of Austin Ordinances and Permitting processes that cover the issues that would be addressed from our current deed restrictions.  Even better, the enforcement of the City Ordinances requires a citizen complaint - there is no "pro-active" drive through the neighborhood, searching for alleged interpreted violations.  Some of the more common ordinances that mirror the village deed restrictions are:

Abandoned Vehicles

Construction or Remodeling Permits

Dumping, Weeds & Unsanitary Conditions

Fences

Home Businesses

Zoning

Noise Ordinances

Recreational Vehicles (including boats, RV's, trailers)

These and other City of Austin ordinances can be found online at:  www.ci.austin.tx.us and clicking on Code of Ordinances under Select a Service.  You may also call 311 and ask to be connected to the appropriate department for questions you may have.

It's important to keep this in mind when you consider whom to vote for this May, and when considering approval of the Limited District.  The current Board feels they must continue these policies to protect our property values.  The City of Austin has the identical interest as the AMMUD Board in maintaining property values in Anderson Mill  property tax revenue.

If you are concerned about your property value, consider what the effect will be when your house has higher property tax rates than those in other neighborhoods, and that those additional taxes go to pay for duplicate services.  What type of impact will there be if you try to sell your house?
